{ 52 Wednesdays } | Week 7, Ruffles

Ruffles. I was really put off this week’s theme. While I love all things frilly and ruffly, there’s simrply nothing in my life that embodies that. After a lot of contemplation, I thought that this weeks theme would be the perfect excuse to try this Ruffle Tshirt Scarf craft that I’ve been seeing all over Pinterest lately! Since we had Monday off from school for President’s Day, I had the girls I nanny for find some old tshirts and we set to work! And because I’m a total doofus, I completely forgot to bring my camera. So luckily, The oldest volunteered for a quick session (15 minutes *maybe*)! She put on her ruffliest dress and some awesome knee high socks and we set to work! Since we were limited on time, we took some quick shots in the backyard. I am really loving this project because it’s forcing me to really think about what I’m going to photograph, and then pushes me to *actually* get things done! So here is Ms. K sporting the ruffles!

Oh, and what photoshoot with a ten year old is complete without a crazy shot?!

{ i heart faces } | weekly photo contest – Hugs & Kisses

This weeks theme at i heart faces is “Hugs & Kisses.” I haven’t entered an I Heart Faces challenge in quite sometime, but with this challenge theme, I knew just the picture! Here’s a recent shot of my friend and her cutie pie little man. There were a lot of truly sweet moments between the two of them during our session, but this one really stuck out to me. I love the nose scrunch and the love that just radiates from the two of them. They are the just the cutest!

The theme is “Launch”, and I thought nothing would be more suiting then to feature Emily, a young girl that’s already well on her way to persuing her dream! She is an amazingly talented singer (see her here!) and definitely has a bright and fulfilling career ahead of her!

{ 52 Wednesdays } | Week 6, Cold

This weeks theme in my 52 week project group was cold. Living in Orlando, and having one of the mildest winters I can recall, I was dreaming of heart shaped ice cubes and food coloring, and all sorts of things that would add way too much work into an already busy week. Lucky for me, just when I was thinking I would have to resort to photographing a bag of frozen peas, we were hit with a nice little cold front! Now, there wasn’t anything record breaking about the cold.. and the high ended up being nearly 80 degrees that day, but the morning was cold enough to bundle Miss Amy (I’ve been her nanny for 7 years!) up enough to satisfy the theme this week. We did a quick 5 minute shoot in her front yard before school and I really love how they turned out! Don’t let the rays of sunshine fool you, it was infact cold enough for me to wear pants! (Any one that knows me, knows that I am pretty exclusive with my dress collection!) Without further adieu, here are a few shots of a very sweet and willing model!

Finally getting a chance to blog the Coquyt family who I had the pleasure of photographing at Live Oak Park in Avalon Park last month. They were such a nice family that run in the same circles as some of my favorite East Orlando mom’s! Thank you Felicia for getting your sweet family together for these shots.. I hope to see more of you guys in the future!!

A few days ago, I had the chance to photograph the grandson of one of my mom’s lifelong friends. Little Wyatt is 13 months of total cutenesss and super smarts. I was seriously impressed by his behaivor and inquisitiveness and laughed so much at his little personality. He got downright mad if anyone took away his cowboy hat! Once you scroll through the pictures, you’ll know what I mean when I say he is a cutie pie! Sharla- you sure make cute babies! :)

I wanted to post a little pull back to show how we got those fun facial expressions in some of the photos. My awesome mama is my right hand gal and is always ready to get her silly on in front of the kids. Wyatt particularly enjoyed playing peek a boo with his hats!

{ 52 Wednesdays } | Week 1, Morning

This year, I’ve decided to join a group of super fab and super talented photographers from The Bloom Forum in a project called “52 Wednesdays.” Each week we will take a photo (or a few) that correspond to that weeks topic. Under each post, we will link to the next person in the group to form a blog hop to check out everyone’s great entries. This will result in at least 52 photos at the end of the year, that I might not have taken had it not been for this little project.

This weeks theme was “Morning” and I’ve already taken a few shots that I would have never thought to take before. So needless to say, I’m pretty excited for this project because I’ve already gotten some memories from it!

I decided to take pictures of my three cats, as they are usually the first thing I encounter in the morning. On most mornings, I usually find my calico cat staring me down. She is always the most concerned about her next meal. She’s also the most vocal, and as soon as I open my eyes, she usually has a thing or two to say to me.

Lily, our tuxedo cat is the only one that won’t wake me up for food in the mornings. If she had her way, she’d have me stay in bed to cuddle all day. And it’s not enough for her to cuddle up next to me, her usual preference is to be on top of me, as is referenced by the last photo taken by my lovely husband.

Bob, our tiger striped, is the least cuddly, but has no problems jumping on the bed on days he’s particularly hungry. His usual choice to wake me up is by kneading my back with his enormous claws.

A few other ways Bob and Callie have chosen to wake me up in the past is by chewing on my hair and taking turns diving on top of my face. (Seriously, no joke!) Even though they are all a little wacky, they have been great additions to our family over the last few years, and waking up to them cuddled close is *usually* a great way to start my morning!

Saturday, I spent about half an hour with Emily in Avalon Park. She’s been featured on the blog before and is my new go to model if I need to get someone in front of the camera. She is so sweet and talented and definitely has a huge future ahead of her! Thank you Emily and Mary for meeting up with me.. can’t wait to work with you again!

I just have to preface this post by saying that it is very image heavy! Before I knew it, I had snapped over 700 pictures of this mommy and baby. You might recognize mama from our Epic Maternity Session (seriously, click the link and check out the huge hamburger!) Due to the busyness that is having a newborn and just life in general, we were never able to coordinate our schedules to capture pictures of Mr. Elwood until yesterday! We met up at my favorite park in East Orlando and were able to capture the gorgeous late afternoon sunlight that I simply adore. E was so awesome the entire time, and it goes without saying that Jess is simply radiating! It was so nice to finally catch up with you Jess and meet your little cutie pie. Can’t wait to see you guys again!

Now here is the Ogle family! I can’t even begin to tell you how amazing it was to get little man to sit still long enough to get these photos. It was a serious team effort! After trying toy airplanes and the girls jumping up and down and making as much noise as possible, what finally did him in was a big chorus of the Alphabet Song. I am constantly amazed at how much I learn from every single session. This was a big one and will be kept in my back pocket for all future sessions involving on-the-go tots! Now I just need to learn how to rally the older ones….
