Being asked to photograph Binal and Kevin’s engagement ceremony was a real honor. Not only was it my very first glimpse into the traditions and colorful world of an Indian social event, but Binal was my bestest of best childhood friend. We were in school together from 1st grade through ninth grade. We even changed our schedule our freshmen year so we had 7 out of 8 classes together. We use to joke that we were “attached at the hip” or siamese twins… We were those annoying girls that laughed nonstop and always finished each other’s sentences. When she went to a different high school in tenth grade, we kind of lost touch and drifted apart. Not for any particular reason, just how things happen. Thanks to the power of Facebook though, we have been able to at least vaguely keep up with each other. She’s been a busy gal, going to school all over the state, but she has now settled in the Orlando area to finish up her residency. When they decided on a last minute engagement ceremony, she remembered that I was also in Orlando and doing photography, so she asked if I was available. Of course! I can’t tell you how neat it was to see her and her family again after (at least) 9 years! Everyone was so nice and friendly, and of course looked gorgeous in their bright and colorful clothing. Thank you Binal for reaching out to me and letting me be a part of your day. After 8 years together, I think your families and friends are so excited that you and Kevin have fianlly made it official! Good luck on all the wedding planning coming your way! :)
This was such a cute moment. It must be engagement season, because three of the girls were showing off their engagement rings to each other. Congrats ladies!
